Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Williams County ALERT 86 Notification System?

The Williams County Alert 86 service allows you to opt-in to receive notifications via phone, text messaging and e-mail, based on emergency occurrences in your area. You can choose to receive notifications about emergencies that may affect your home, workplace, schools and more.

When will it be used?

This system will be used to notify you about emergent, significant and time-sensitive emergency alerts affecting Williams County.

Williams County administrators will send notifications regarding critical emergency alerts (immediate threat to safety), severe weather warnings for Williams County, and public safety notifications (including water, utility, fire, police, and transportation alerts). Some notifications will require you to confirm receipt of the message. If you don't confirm receipt of the message, the system will try to reach your second contact number or email, and will continue to contact you until it receives a confirmation.

How will I receive the alerts?

The Williams County ALERT 86 Notification System will send emergency messages to voluntary subscribers through the following means (depending on preference):

  • Home Phone
  • Work Phone
  • Cell Phone
  • eMail
  • SMS Text Messages
  • Mobile App (Available for both Android and iPhone, search for the "Everbridge Mobile Member" app.)

Subscribers can manage the order in which they would prefer to receive alerts during the sign up process. These settings can be changed by login into your account at any time.

Please note: The alerts will be sent until you confirm that you have received them. For example if you receive an alert to your land-line phone and confirm you have received it, the system will stop trying to reach you and you will not receive any other alerts through the additional phone numbers or emails in your profile.

Why do you need my address?

Alerts will be sent according to the geographic area affected. You can enter up to five location addresses into the alert system, including your workplace, children's school, daycare, home address, etc. Please note the system will issue only Williams County specific alerts.

Will I still get emergency notifications if I don't sign up?

No, you will only receive Williams County emergency alerts if you sign up.

What if my phone number or email address changes?

If your contact information changes, you can securely visit your account profile and update your information at any time.

What if I want to unsubscribe to ALERT 86 Williams County?

You can log into your account and remove all of the contact information to halt alerts, or you can contact the system administrator by email to to be completely removed from the system.
